Matthew 24 about Israel, NOT the Church (Andy Woods)
Because the salvation of the Jewish nation is crucial to the climax of my novel, I need to get Matthew 24 right.
The church is not in the Olivet Discourse. The Olivet Discourse is a passage about events during the tribulation (which happens after the rapture). “And then at last, the sign of the coming of the Son of Man will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning among all the nations of the earth. And they will see the Son of Man arrive on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.” Mt. 24:30
Dr. Peter Ruckman in his Revelation commentary says that Mt. 24:30 (above) is referring to Jewish tribes all over the earth during the tribulation who are mourning that they have rejected their Messiah, implying that Christ will appear as a vision of sorts, which causes all Jews to accept him worldwide. Ruckman claims this is a rapture in v.31 that follows, which I feel is incorrect.

Though I agree with Ruckman that these are Jews. Andy Woods feels that these are Jews who recognize Jesus as their Messiah, and then in v. 31 God gathers the Jews worldwide and places them into Israel. Andy Woods seems more correct to me. Perhaps Jesus will appear in a vision of sorts.
Why am I reading Ruckman? Well, I disagree with him about 80%, but because of his obsession with literal interpretation (even if he limits it to the King James Bible), sometimes he hits the nail on the head and he has the guts to call a spade a spade.
“And he will send forth his angels with the sound of a mighty trumpet blast, and they will gather together his chosen ones (the Jews) from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven (interesting that it says heaven here, makes me suspect some Jews may be on space craft). ” Mt. 24:31
Also, the passage in Matt. 24:40-42 is NOT a rapture passage: “Two men will be working together in the field; one will be taken, the other left. Two women will be grinding flour at the mill; one will be taken, the other left. So be prepared, because you don’t know what day your Lord is coming.”
Okay, this verse is addressed to a Jewish audience (his Jewish disciples), the group that Jesus was talking to at the time. Those in the tribulation that accept Jesus as their Messiah or are righteous will be left behind to go into Christ’s 1000 year reign in their mortal bodies. These will be the humans who migrate from the tribulation AS MORTALS into the millenium and have children and populate the millennium with mortals. ONLY MORTALS CAN HAVE CHILDREN. So you can’t have a rapture at the end of the tribulation (it appears) because then where are the mortals to go into the millennium? CORRECTION: Old Testament and tribulation saints are resurrected right after the tribulation is over and are rewarded. But this isn’t really a rapture. Raptured folks get resurrection bodies! Those who are raptured get resurrection bodies and those with resurrection bodies can’t have children and are like the angels in heaven. “For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like the angels in heaven.” – Mark 12:25
So how do I explain that Christ will officiate the marriage between me and Brent Spiner (when we are in our raptured resurrection bodies) in the millennium? Well, we won’t be having any children! Jesus told me I’d be baby-proof in the millennium. And just cuz he’s doing a marriage ceremony does not mean we aren’t already married. He’s just doing a ceremony (after-the-fact) in order to give us his semen (quite an honor, and deserving of a ceremony).

Gail: Some of his moves will be Jesus’, because you’ve taught him, but Jesus won’t be making any moves through Brent during the millennium.

Gail: The public is obsessed with this. They want me to explain this more.

Gail: Oh no, it’s an honor. Is this just your way of rewarding us because we please you? It will make our sexual experience with each other absolutely awesome.

Gail: Will I have any babies in the millennium?
[4:58:02 PM] JESUS CHRIST: Oh no, we can’t be making any babies.
Gail: Can I get pregnant in the millennium?
[4:58:30 PM] JESUS CHRIST: No, you will be baby proof.
[4:58:41 PM] JESUS CHRIST: It’s the afterlife Gail. Babies are only made in regular life.
Gail: So those born in the millennium will make babies, but those who enter the millennium as an afterlife will NOT. I belong to this life and the millennial life is considered the afterlife. So those in the millennium as an afterlife can’t get pregnant.
[5:00:06 PM] JESUS CHRIST: This is true. It’s very complicated but Gail seems to understand.
Gail: After the millennium, will the human race be multiplying and having babies after the millennium and will we be populating outer space? The devil will be vanquished, so this will be all of your children.
[5:01:03 PM] JESUS CHRIST: I plead the 5th on this one.
[He’s pleading the fifth because of Zack Knight. Zack Knight is fascinated with babies.]
[5:01:08 PM] JESUS CHRIST: It’s a little too early for this.
Those who are taken in Mt. 24:40-42 are the wicked in the tribulation who are gathered for judgment! This may explain the blood to the horse’s bridle in Rev. 14:17-20, also described as being “gathered” for this. Dr. Stanley Toussaint believes this. The blood, about six feet high in a river, are all the wicked that God slays at the end of the tribulation AFTER the famous Final Battle or Battle of Armageddon. So those who are taken in Mt. 24:40-42 and end up in this river of blood (Rev. 14:17-20) are the WICKED in Mt. 24:40-42 at the very end of the tribulation or right after the tribulation. Matt. 24:40-42 is NOT a rapture passage, but a passage about those in the tribulation when Christ metes out his judgments after the Jewish nation is saved and he deals with the rest of the tribulation world.
“And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, and he also had a sharp sickle. Then another angel, the one who has power over fire, came out from the altar; and he called with a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, ‘Put in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters from the vine of the earth, because her grapes are ripe.’ So the angel swung his sickle to the earth and gathered the clusters from the vine of the earth,and threw them into the great wine press of the wrath of God. And the wine press was trodden outside the city, and blood came out from the wine press, up to the horses’ bridles, for a distance of two hundred miles.”- Rev. 14:17-20
